Every week it is impossible to say everything. Sometimes I have to leave some things out, other times I simply forget to say some things. So I thought I would add a few addtional thoughts from my message on Job: Enduring Undeserved Suffering.
* Job lived about 4,000 years ago, perhaps around the time of Abraham.
* Job, like us, had to balance out the conflict between his head and his heart. He knew God was aware and that the end would ok. But in his head he had to deal with the present reality of his incredible suffering.
* The book of Job is loaded with scientific accuracy. This little bit of information is not readily known unless you read the entire book. When God speaks to Job God uses creationism to address his needs and problems. In fact, when God spoke to Job about his suffering creation was the only thing God talked about! Fascinating actually. I guess God figured if He could hang a star or planet earth in the sky He could pretty much handle anything in the realm of suffering and pain (Job 38-41).
* Job essentially had three complaints. Of course, we have the same ones in the midst of pain. 1) God is not listening to anything I say; 2) God is punishing me; 3) God is allowing others to prosper.
* People never get bitter at Satan for all the havov he creates. He is the enemy and the author of sin, pain, evil, and suffering. No one ever says, "Why is Satan picking on me?"
My last thought. Follow God, no matter what. Why?
* God notices and appreciates it when you follow Him and live an exemplary life (Job 1:8).
